Standards for Chaplains – HCB & CAB

In pursing a career as a healthcare chaplain in Ireland one needs to be aware of the required standards of two Boards currently operating.

The Healthcare Chaplaincy Board, for those of a Roman Catholic tradition, had its standards approved… for use by the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference and the Conference of Religious of Ireland in 2013.

The Chaplaincy Accreditation Board accredits chaplains from the Church of Ireland and will considerable applications from those of other traditions / faith groups with appropriate tradition / faith group support. These standards were adopted by resolution of the House of Bishops of the Church of Ireland in September, 2014
