The delivery of effective cultural care for health and social care clients: the micro and macro challenges
This paper considers the inevitable external factors that affect intrinsic and personally held perspectives of health and social care professionals concerning cultural care that is appropriate to individuals. It will contemplate the degree to which history, politics and media play a role in how we see ‘others’ in society.
Presented by: Mrs Gayatri Nambiar-Greenwood, Senior Lecturer in Nursing, Manchester Metropolitan University
Her research and teaching interest range from sociology and anthropology in healthcare, practical ethics, self-awareness and the delivery of humanized care. She is in her final stages of a doctorate level research study entitled, “What do patients perceive as Culturally Appropriate Care?”
